I was not put on this earth to be anyone but myself. I have anxiety and bite my nails all the time. I have cellulite. I have made poor decisions. I have an overbite. I have failed over and over again at many different things. I have the stubbiest toes. I have bad knees. I can be very passive aggressive. I have a pinky that never healed straight after being dislocated. I worry A LOT. I am perfectly imperfect. And to tell you the truth all the best people are.

I like to say that my imperfections tell a story. My dislocated crooked pinky is a chapter of my story. My poor decisions were a chapter of my story. My anxiety is a chapter (okay, several chapters) of my story. Our scars, both physical and emotional are chapters of our stories. If you get rid of those perfect imperfections how much of your story are you erasing?

After a lengthy hiatus, I am back to hammering away at my own physique goals.
I’ve lost 6 pounds in 1.5 weeks. Not by spending hours in the gym. Not by eating a restrictive diet.
I actually have been lifting LESS. Two days per week is my magic number. I have a lot of dense muscle mass built from over a decade of lifting. I don’t feel any benefit from hitting weights multiple days a week. Im convinced frequent resistance training actually triggers an inflammatory response in my body that leaves me feeling/looking bloated and lethargic.
My old training/nutrition program: -Eating large portions of food (albeit healthy) multiple times per day -Lifting 5x/week
-Running 4x/week

New Program (aka what works for me):
-Lifting 2-3 times per week, full body each workout
-Eating when I feel like it/intermittent fasting -Running 5x/ week (speed work, hills, lots of variety)

TAKEAWAY: Adding more is not always the answer. If you’re a veteran fitness enthusiast that is struggling to attain your desired results, ask yourself: Am I sleeping enough and therefore recovering enough between workouts?
Am I hyper-focusing on food? Do I know when I am truly hungry?

#motivationmonday Thyroid sick to healthy and also a 50 lb difference. One common thyroid symptom is edema. Puffy eyes, face, neck, and throughout the body. Edema happens when your small blood vessels leak fluid into nearby tissues. It happens from certain medical conditions, medications, injuries, or pregnancy. Most people confuse it for bloating. This isn’t fat- it is your bodies response to something going on. People with autoimmune issues have invisible diseases. Meaning other people interpret them as fine and a symptom like this of just being “fat” or overweight. Lots of other symptoms came a long with this. My whole body was inflamed and I was miserable. I worked out 6 days a week consistently for years as well as I’ve eaten a good diet for years. I may have gotten frustrated at certain points over the last 10 years and said screw it but I was consistent with my health efforts more than anything. I switched to my anti-inflammatory plan last year, lowered my exercise to 3-4 days a week and stopped doing tons of cardio with my weights and only do weights, I also worked more on stress and lots of other things. All of that information is in my anti-inflammatory plans. Anyone can use that plan not just people with health issues. Extra inflammation in the body is the cause for almost all issues and as well causes weight gain. Processed foods, toxic chemicals, pollution, stress, and more cause extra inflammation in the body which is why it’s an amazing lifestyle for anyone. I remember buying this little black dress when I was 17 for a house party (almost 7 years ago!). At the time, and for a long time afterwards, I thought I could never really pull off a tight bodycon dress because of my big belly. I thought I’d only ever look passable if I didn’t eat all day, or sucked in constantly or wore Spanx. And I thought I definitely couldn’t wear a sleeveless dress without a blazer/cardigan/kimono/jacket, because god forbid I put my big arms on display 😬🤦🏻‍♀️
