You're Mike McCarthy: What adjustments are you making to this Packers team on their bye week?
Here's some key things I would do:
1. Get healthy.
This isn't really an adjustment, but I don't think our bye week could come at a better time in the year. With so many important guys hurt right now, it'll be important to have everyone ready to go for probably our toughest game of the year.
2. Treat Aaron Jones like the starting RB already.
Enough is enough, it's the middle of October, we can quit this whole "running back by committee". It's so blindingly obvious that AJ is the most talented back, so give him the freaking ball.
3. Run the ball more in general.
The Packers are currently 3rd in the league in pass attempts per game, which is unacceptable for a team that can run the ball as well as we can. And I know, it's hard to run when you're down 20 points, but we really should start opening games running the ball. Specifically against the LA Rams, the Seahawks came out and ran the ball against them a couple weeks ago and it was working really well. I think we should receive the ball, and just run it down their throat on the opening drive. It'll certainly catch them off guard.
4. Defensive line needs to play better.
Again this isn't really an adjustment a coach can make, but man the defensive line got pushed around on Monday night. Going against an even better Rams offensive line with an even better RB in Todd Gurley, we need to come out strong. Hopefully the bye week can be a refresher for the line.
Here's just some other minor things:
-Stop getting behind the sticks on 1st and 2nd downs.
-We're currently 3rd in the league in penalties, that needs to change. It's beyond frustrating.
-Don't take MVS and EQ out of the picture when Geronimo and Cobb are healthy. If everyone gets their proper snaps, we could have one of the best WR groups.
